concrete counters sealed and waxed

The Ticor under-mount sink with concrete counter illuminated by sunlight.

Concrete Counters are sealed, waxed and ready for a dinner party.

The integral charcoal color looks wicked nice. Now need some real, bold COLORS, with backsplash, American Clay finishes and more.

Close up of the aggregate.

View along sink counter.

Corner shot of aggregate exposed.

installing concrete counters

Sanding and staining window sills. I found that sawhorse on the side of the road!

Concrete counters are in, almost. Not yet sealed or waxed - they'll be a bit darker when that's done.

Looking good. Still needs sealant and wax (will be darker).

Under-mount sink cutout with faucet sitting in place.

Bar concrete counter piece is resting in place... will be sealed and mounted soon!

bathroom is becoming a room

Hey, don't judge the bucket! At least I've got some running water indoors. 5 gallon sludge bucket serves as drain for now...

Old, old adobe plaster crack getting repaired and sealed with new shower tile.

Shower tile is porcelain Metallica line from TAU in dark coppers, iron oxide and graphite glazed. Thrifty design resulted in 18x18 base row and 6x6 above.

More tiling progress...

Concrete (Concrete is a green material: contains local and recycled content and no VOCs) bathroom counter was set today! Thanks, Counter Intelligence NM for the great slab and copper sink and wall mount fixture!

But it's a few inches too high for my preferances...will adjust once copper sink is sealed in place

Tiling. And I have moved in to my very own construction site!

A shot of the awesome gas range all set up in the kitchen!! Kitchen needs backsplash, counters, and more. Also Still no, sinks, shower. Lots of molding, trim, doors, plastering and grouting to do.... But it's livable... mas o menos....

Tiling the kitchen with beautiful quartzite solid stone tiles.

Hard at work on a cold Thanksgiving day: focused on cutting the quartzite tile :-)

The powerful wet tile saw that I got to use.

The tile all laid nice n' level and in near perfect lines.

Transporting the refrigerator. I found a great deal on craigslist. I got all Energy Star appliances.

Dishwasher is in.

Never ending painting...

Like I said...

Mariessa doing some plumbing touch ups for the kickass wall-mounted designer faucet.

T-4 days until move-in

Hardwood floors with final sanding, sealant, first coat of water-based polyurethane. Tons of work! I have so much respect for all hardwood floors, especially 80 year old ones, that I will never again drag a piece of furniture across them.

Finished painting ceilings. Electrician was final'd and lights are in! Track lighting casting nice lines in kitchen/dining area.

200+ year old barn wood from Taos laid as flooring in back utility/laundry/foyer room.

Energy Efficient (though not $ tankless) water heater.

Toilet. It even flushes. Low flush water-saving, of course.

More of the 200+ year old barn wood from Taos as the siding to the pony wall bar between dining and kitchen. Photo doesn't quite capture how nice it looks.

Random shot of the construction mess that has been my life.

It's got electricity!

Front porch illuminated at dusk. The Harristone (stucco color) shows nicely.

View at dusk from Northeast corner of property by coyote fence.
Looks homey, eh?

Kitchen with lights (Dimmer controls on recessed cans)

Hallway with lights. (Dimmer controls and cans also.)

Fun times tiling my bathroom floor. Hard to see the details of the tile: Marazzi Italian porcelain with a varied, high contrast industrial-look finish.

Happy 5th of November Day

Mom showing off the cabinets in place. The modern, maple cabinets were the showroom set from Poulin Design Remodeling.

My awesome RECLAIMED/ SALVAGED 200+ year old barn wood from Northern New Mexico/ Taos area. Pat Crowe, with Reclaimed Building Materials, has been salvaging buildings for decades and started a new company in Albuquerque for the re-use of many great materials.

Shawnequia my amazing painting ladyfriend.

Pro Green is ac ommercial grade low-Volatile Organic Compound (VOCs are bad toxins) eco paint from Sherwin Williams, who has been developing such "green" paints for years now. A big thanks to our local store here in 'Burque on 1st Street.

OMG, prep-coating is finally done.
